Colour is a vast subject area. When you apply the technicalities of the
Internet to the subject you open up a whole new field.
In the section about fonts we used the example of a magazine - which no matter where
you take it will always look the same. When you look at a web site the local settings
on the computer will have an effect on how that site displays - i.e. using symbols such as .
When you talk about colour in the same context we have to allow for the end users computer and monitor settings.
If you have a user viewing the site with the brightness of the monitor turned up to its fullest they may
miss subtle tones and tints that a user with "normal" settings would see. Web-dominion
will work with you to help you through the technicalities of this subject.

The following section is to make you think about
the questions we may ask you. Do not worry if you do not have answers to the
questions because we at web-dominion can help guide you to the design you want to reflect you and your business.
Remember theses web pages are colour samples -
which are exaggerated for effect.
Ultimately what can be achieved depends on your imagination and vision!

Many people are colour blind and do not realise that this is the case.
At Web-dominion we test our websites out against a palette of colours to help
make sure the sites dont have navigation issues for people with reduced
colour perception.

When discussing website colour there is one subject that still
must be broached and, it still requires the customer to make a decision.
Many people using computers (a dwindling band) have a limited colour palette on their computer
(they are restricted to 256 colours).
In the early days of the Internet this lead to the use of what was known as the
web safe palette a set of 216 colours that at the time, it was known that most
computers could interpret with some certainty.
As the Internet has grown many companies have taken the decision to
assume that as majority of customers have modern equipment that
can use colour ranges in the millions of colours.
Therefore they have decided it is better to get the website to mirror
the world of print than to keep sites looking lost in a time warp of the early 1990s.
We always talk over this subject with our customers, but for the record we have
a full colour website, and the numbers of people with such a reduced colour palette
will fall by natural obsolescence of equipment.
